STRONG US JOB GAINS REPORTED FOR 15 CONSECUTIVE MONTHS

The US Department of Labor reported on April 1, 2022, that an additional 431,000 people were working in America during March. This robust increase of jobs in the USA dropped the national unemployment rate to just 3.6 percent for March, down from a very low 3.8 percent in February when 678,000 US jobs were filled. The Labor Department also reported that average hourly wages for people working in America increased 5.6 percent during the last 12 months, rising to an average of $31.73 per hour. Strong US job growth has occurred for 15 months in a row, averaging about 400,000 new jobs per month during the past year. US employment in the construction industry increased by 19,000 workers in March, while 25,000 hotel workers were hired, 38,000 manufacturing jobs were added, and 61,000 workers were hired by restaurants and bars.
