On October 9, 2018, the US-based Pew Research Center released the results of a nationwide poll of 1,754 American adults which discovered that a majority (68 percent) of people living in the United States think “openness” toward immigrants is “essential” for the country. The survey was conducted in September 2018 by the respected research center which studies the attitudes of people living in America and examines other key issues of national interest. According to this poll, a majority of various demographic groups living in the USA (including liberals, moderates, conservatives, young and older adults) think that it is crucial to the character of the country to be open toward immigrants.
